News of: 13.10.2021

In the context of the “CALL HUB Research and Innovation sPATIALS3”, FLANAT Research and the Institute of Agricultural Biology and Biotechnology of the CNR organized the event “Camelina sativa: A Life Cycle Thinking”. It will be held in Milan on October 19, 2021 from 10:00 to 12:00 in the EXPO hall of the Research Area of Milan 1 – via Alfonso Corti 12

The event aims to promote the adoption of new production methods that can respond to the current need to combine agriculture and sustainable transformation in order to produce and transform agricultural products in a competitive and efficient way protecting the environment and natural resources.

Life Cycle Thinking (LCT) is an innovative and sustainable model that allows us to understand all the impacts of a product in each cycle of the production process. LCT provides significant support in creating and implementing effective sustainability strategies in order to enhance processing waste, optimize costs and the energy consumption planning.

Camelina fits very well in this context as it turns out to be an easy-to-grow plant that does not require the use of particular agronomic techniques and has peculiar nutritional properties that can be exploited for the creation of nutraceutical ingredients and food products with high health value.
